The transect count data collected by atlas technicians were used primarily to determine the population size of each species in early and late winter, and to map the relative abundance of those species across the state. To obtain this information, we used N-mixture models on the R statistical computing platform. Modelled abundance maps will be added to species accounts during a forthcoming update of this web site, at which time we will also update this page to provide full details of the analyses.
